This photo from two years ago was a big moment for me. I’ve long shot photos to supplement my writing but they were usually informed by my own self-criticism and self-doubt. It was this photo that pushed me in the direction of composing and shooting with more intent. Part of reason is I liked outcome of shot. Bigger part is I wasn’t looking for this shot, but when I saw it I was able to see the potential photo in my head and compose the shot and set the camera in time to preserve the moment. It wasn’t the most technically difficult shot to get, lots of photographers could have done same thing. But it opened my eyes to my own potential to capture moods and tell stories through photography.
